It’s almost that time of year again — time to do your year in review, realize all you accomplished and decide what you’re still striving for. While you’re setting goals and pondering New Year’s resolutions, we have a great suggestion for you: Join our team! Becoming a volunteer with us pairs well with so many New Year’s resolutions. Here are the top three resolutions we can help you stick to when you become a volunteer with Prince William County Fire and Rescue System.
Resolution: Give Back to Your Community
In our opinion, there is no greater way to give back to the Prince William community than through volunteer public service. Whether you join as a volunteer firefighter or rescue worker, you’re giving of your time, talent and compassion on a regular basis. You’ll be providing expert services to those around us, often in their moments of greatest needs. Just ask any of our team members, and they are sure to be able to tell you a story (or 10) that stands out for them of a time when they knew they made a tremendous difference in someone’s life.
We also have administrative volunteer positions available, which are equally as important! These volunteers plan fundraising events, send mailings and handle many of the day-to-day operations of our organization. There’s a place for everyone!
Resolution: Further Your Education or Career
We know of no other volunteer position that can offer the training and education that volunteer firefighters and rescue workers receive. When you choose the path you wish to follow, education is provided for you at no charge. In addition to the classes, you receive hands-on training and real-life experiences to help you master the skills you’re learning. These skills also translate directly into many career fields, including paid fire and rescue and medical positions.
Resolution: Be More Social
We put in a lot of hours of work, but we know how to have a good time. Our volunteers are friends who support one another, whether it’s helping fellow volunteers with training/skills or just hanging out. We have a variety of social events throughout the year and participate in programs like fundraising for St. Baldrick’s. If you’re looking for a place to be accepted for who you are, this is it! Come get to know our team and find your place!
Let 2020 be the year you make resolutions that actually stick. With PWCFRS, you’ll have an entire team behind you helping you achieve your goals — in volunteerism, education and fun.
