Prince William County
Prince William County is located in Northern Virginia approximately 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. Its bordering jurisdictions are Fairfax and Loudoun Counties to the north, Stafford County to the south, and Fauquier County to the west. The Potomac River (Maryland) flows along the eastern border of the County. Prince William County encompasses a total area of 348 square miles and includes within its boundaries the independent cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. Federal lands within the County include The Quantico Marine Corps Base, Manassas National Battlefield Park and Prince William Forest Park. Four incorporated towns – Haymarket, Quantico, Dumfries, and Occoquan also are within the County’s boundaries. Prince William County’s current estimate population is 371,178 persons as of June 15, 2006.
